Stitching News

Wonder of wonders, I remembered to take photos today. In between demonstrating the most fabulous Juki UX8 sewing beastie and giving excellent customer service to my shop customers, I did it!!

Jackie started these fabulous applique blocks a while ago but they had to be left to simmer on the side for a while as other projects needed making. They are back out and getting stitched, what amazing colours!!

New Sue finished her pinwheel quilt top and the backing has been chosen. A sandwich making slot is booked so you will see the whole thing very soon. In the meanwhile, Sue started this project form the very popular Tilda book.

Rose has discovered Decovil such a versatile product from Vlieseline. She's making this Noodlehead bag. Easy to follow instructions and pattern matched tweedy fabric with zips!

The Tuesday ladies all treated their very own selves to a sewing retreat at the lovely Oakhill in Cromford last week. Rose and Beano worked on these advent projects, amongst other things. Such a cute Advent Calendar, a future family heirloom, I'm sure.

This & That

We had a very good day on our Pilgrimage to the Festival Of Quilts, I think everyone was impressed. The was plenty of space between all the things to look at, shops, quilts etc

The organisation of the trip ran very smoothly indeed, even if I do say so my self!!
If you would like me to book the Pilgrimage again for next year, it would have to be on Sunday 6th August 2023
Let me know?

Meanwhile, the Monday evening Social Stitching continues. Open to everyone

Catching Up Stitching News

I've had a computer issue, update, update, update. Very irritating. I think it had a melted brain!
There have been so many projects started, worked on and finished, I can't keep up. Mathemisms galore, my poor head, ha ha ha!

Susie finished her 'Not At All Ugly' Birdhouse Quilt and what a lovely quilt it is too. It's her largest quilt to date and she is very proud of it. Toot toot toot Susie, a Fabulous Finish.

Jean Bean, and all of the Tuesday Class ladies, have gone off on a sewing retreat this week. Jean made a few of these rather splendid little totes to take her essential sewing supplies in. I sell that there Clear Vinyl by the metre in my very own shop. Toot toot toot Beano!

Cheryl was able to spread out her Tilda design quilt so we got to have a good long look. The backing was chosen, that took a while because it had to be just right! All done now and this large quilt is off to Amanda in Stone, the Long Arm Quilter.

Deb added embelishment to her Festive gifting quilt. Can you see it, tiny pom-pom braid! What a great idea, makes it quite tactile too. It's fabulous and finished toot toot toot.

Judy came for a special sewing day. All the blocks needed to be laid out, you know how we get in a pickle with on-point settings... so she had a classroom tables to her very own self day, well almost. Di came too, she was allowed one table and she had to use the floor for her blocks, ha ha ha needs must.

A gifting pillow for a Jig-Saw enthusiast, How cool is that!!
Fiona drew around Grand kiddie jig-saw puzzle pieces to make her applique shapes.
Quite genius me thinks!
Of course there is a hidden zip in the back. This is a most popular way to use zips in the back of cushions in my very own classroom, no toddler tummy cushion backs here! toot toot toot Fiona.

Jan's Savannah animals are all complete, wow are they fabulous. She's now started on the top and bottom borders so many shades of green fabric are being used for the pieced leaves.

New Sue is adding Piano Key borders to her latest project.
A very popular border treatment and a great way to use up the fabrics.

Stitchine News

Cheryl finished her Tilda quilt top!!! There are hundreds and hundreds, more commonly known as 'thousands'! of tiny little background fabric pieces to this floral design, I thought she would get fed up with them, but Cheryl proved me wrong and here it is, just beautiful! There's a backing to be planned next.

Jean Beano, very proudly, held up her Log Cabin gifting quilt top. All the Log Cabin blocks are now the right way up... It's a new style for Beano! It's ready to be sandwiched next, backing stitched ready, and that will happen on Saturday this week.

Shirley finished all 6 of her new cushions and very kindly brought one back for us to give a fanfare, it's fabulous and all 6 are finished and that's what we like to do! Toot toot toot... toot toot toot, there are 6!!

All Day Di has half a quilt top complete... as always happens with On-Point settings, there was a little bit of confusion with the layout, it was nothing a seam ripper couldn't sort out though. This will be finished today!! bold statement?

Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle on the light box... Lynda had a pattern from a book but it didn't quite look like the Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle that Lynda loves, so we got out a very special pencil and an eraser and changed the hat, the apron, the nose and her bottom!! Now she's much better, don't you think... PMS rules!!! (Pleasing My Self)

Fiona Too sent this photo of her finished Animal Stackers Quilt. It's another bit of PMS really The pattern is for a wall hanging but Fiona wanted it as a quilt so we used wider background fabric and added those perfect border squares... genius?
Toot toot toot Fiona, a fabulous finish!

Susan loves a Jelly Roll, especially the Batik ones... This is a pattern is from Jordan Fabrics on YouTube, there's a lot of left over background colour... which is actually a brighter teal grunge, looking rather dark in this photo, so I sent Susan off to play with her leftovers... could be a spectacular backing soon.

Farmer Lynda only needed to do a small amount of quilting on this lovely, kiddo gifting quilt, so that made her happy! 6" apart following the kits ribbons, winner!! She might add a few more details later but for now, it's time to trim those crusts off.

Carol loves a fiddley applique design... no job too small! A few of us are embarking on our Festive stitching now... I've sold all of these books now but more are on their way... It's a BEAUTIFUL project book. Carol will be making the whole quilt, this small block will be a lovely table  topper.
