Jingle Bells?

Sewing Prevention Season is only 47... yup... 47 days away... I remember telling you ages ago that I had found out that Christmas Day would be on the 25th December so that you had time... Projects are being started and finished in every class and at Caverswall Quilt Cave, here's a few...
Shirley Lerly's very own little Christmas hamper, lovely!
The panels,  if you would like to make your very own, are available in My Very Own Quilt Shop.
We sell the bags ready made too and boy are they 'Hot Cakes'
Beth sandwiched and started quilting... also a panel.
Maid Marion is hoping to complete a whole year's calendar
Chris The Foot is hoping to get this done for 2013... I bet she'll do it... Chis finds super fast skills when it comes to the very last minute!
Maggi too... Of course, the Advent Calendars have even less time, I hadn't thought of that!
Brenda Barbara needs three of these quick table toppers... it's lucky they are quicker than a flash to make then eh!

Stitching News

Fran Cup Cake tried her first Log Cabin block two weeks ago and, it's fair to say... she is in luuuuurvvvve with them. No wonder, look how cool they are! She's having a ball making more... Stars next!
Princess Jackie does it again!! Cute-tty-Cute or what!!!
The pattern for the little ducks is from an older magazine, a British one... ooooher I forgot which one now.
New Sue sandwiched another fabulous project. This one is made from beautiful Batik fabrics... They're not all from my very own shop but my selection enhanced the whole ensemble!
You should see how many Batiks there are on my very own shelves these days, 9 more Robert Kaufman lovelies are due in today!
Lovely Lyn started making fabulous appliqué flower blocks... she's chuffed with them too. They're not stitched yet, they just had the sticky stuff treatment...
Rose made a sandwich, one of many she has waiting but this beautiful and fun kiddy one jumped to the front of the queue!

Stitching News

Morning Judith finished her quilting and only had about 20" of the border to stitch by hand. A lovely quilt which will soon be ready for a finishing fanfare. It might very well be gifted soon too.
Monday Sheila gets her very own Toot toot toot for her second finished, extra long, table runner... it's about three miles in length!... over 7 foot? I can mathemise inches easily enough but when the ladies talk about feet I'm lost... unless I am in a shoe shop!
Monday Sheila started a new project. All of her electrical kitchen toys will have their very own quilted covers, starting with the Ohio Star blocks
AnnBacan started these Festive pictures many months ago... with lots of time 'till they were needed, they got set to one side while Ann played with other patchwork things... now time is running out... come on Ann, lets aim for Christmas 2013! he he he
Longport Lynda continued making Quilt-As-You-Go blocks. She switched to blue fabrics this time but the back will continue with the black and white theme, unless the green blocks turn themselves at the very last minute... again!
Christabelle has been stitching at home. She purchased these fabrics only last week and the quilt is almost finished... and what a lovely quilt it is too.

Fanfare For Lady Judith

A Bargello Beauty...
toot toot toot Lady Judith... what a fabulous wall hanging
Another  gorgeous Toot-ety Toot Toot...  The Lady is on a roll. This quilt started with those lovely and extremely neat nursery rhyme Cross-Stitch pictures...
Just take a look at the back of the quilt... Jean Bean helped Judith draw and plan her letters. Seems we have our very own font maker!!!
Thank Goodness for Jean Bean!

Angela's Hunter's Star

Angela popped in to my very own, very lovely, patchwork and quilting shop to purchase beautiful thread so that she could get started with the quilting of her Hunter's Star project... what a stunning design it makes when you join the Hunter's Star blocks together. Angela's quilt is Lap size and was achieved with one metre of each red and white... fabulous!

Quilt As You Go, Apartment Joining and Double Sided Binding

What a long title... all three are very useful technics and made for a brilliant workshop... even though I do say so for my very own self... the ladies all agreed enthusiastically when I asked for feedback, which I almost always do because there's absolutely no point in me repeating unpopular workshops. So, I will most definitely be booking at least one more Quilt As You Go Saturday. The apartment joining method means that large quilts can be made with more manageable sized sections.
Everything from Scrappy Strings to Jelly Rolls were used during the workshop
Lady Judith used up the left over strip set from doing the workshop for the Bargello Garden not too long ago.
Fabrics from stash enhanced with a few chosen purchases
Left over strips from many other projects, all with a colour theme
A beautiful Batik Jelly Roll
Gifted black and white fabric one side, luscious greens for the other... don't go worrying about this one... they were put right once she saw the slight error, but oh how we laughed!
One lady used festive reds with gold and sparkling green, you can see it on the top picture. The double sided binding impressed the ladies but no-one added it to their blocks.. they haven't finished adding rooms to their new apartments yet!!!

Sheila's Banner

Wow.... with only an idea, Sheila chatted to my Lilly who sketched a prototype for Sheila's approval. Lilly then drew the banner with much more detail, passed it on to Sheila who then made this fabulous banner. It's a commission quilt and I can vouch for the hours, hours and more hours it's had spent on it... what a result though??
Sheila pieced, appliquéd and embellished and quilted the centre picture, set it to one side then made the border. Hand appliqué this time, every tiny detail on the roses has been stitched. Lightly machine embroidered leaves, machine appliqué and hand embroidered letters too.
Then the centre panel was stitched into place... we saw it all come together and the result is amazing. Just a gun metal grey binding to be added and it can go off to it's new owners... boy will they be impressed!

Stitching News...

Wendy decided that she needed to do something that needed very little thought... she was in a chatty mood and knew she would get distracted... how very sensible. These string blocks ave been exciting Wendy for weeks, since the September SPQ actually... all coming along nicely!
Little Annette has a few quilts on the go, WIP's... Works In Progress
This one, the ten minute block, had all the borders on and was ready for the sandwich treatment by our days end.
Michelle My Belle aches all over now... after two full days of quilting this huge and beautiful quilt all her bones and muscles need a day off.
"No pain... No gain... isn't that the saying!! Come on Michele.. you can do it!
Di Butterfly saw the festive bags that were made up by My Mum Gwynneth and decided that she needed to make six of them... craftily she's quilting them all at the very same time to keep thread colour changing to a minimum... they were all about to get their green bits done.
We're having a new wave of beginners joining us... I have to admit that it's getting rather tricky to fit them into our schedule now... our beginners get instantly addicted and continue coming for stitchy fun long after completing their beginner Rail Fence Table Runners...
I might have to start working night shifts too!
