Wooohooo, Joan the Shop has her Daizie quilt centre done! Joan's going to add a thin inner border using lovely bright yellow Moda Dot fabric then more and more daizies...
Helen finished her commission quilt so she is able to get back to her black and white quilt... she finished the top so next time she can quilt it... unless she finishes it at home...
Chris has been busy making the Quick Table Toppers, these projects are so quick to make... unbeleivabubbly quick... and they make fabulous gifts, all year round.
Diane quilted one side of her big cushion and started to make the other side, which will be the same design but her fabrics will be in a different order.
Annie, yet again, has done loads of homework... a split four patch design, doesn't it look great?! She has a red and cream one all ready to slice up too... such a simple pattern, very effective.
Foxy Margaret added sashing to her cat blocks, taking great care to line up all the rows after a few top tips from yours truly.
Lacey Ann saw a wonderful floor tile design, took pictures, bought the fabric and it's her next project... after studying a block book for a while she has it sorted... well, I guess we will see just how sorted next week... but she's very clever.
Dotty Maureen has quilted all around each individual bug, with great care using a Bernina baby (440 QE), the stitching is so accurate that you can hardly see it's there.
then she added bugs as free motion quilting on the stripy bits... good eh. There was everything from a ladybird to a praying mantis, spiders and snails...
Arty Beryl is working on a rather beautiful scrap quilt, crazy pieced and embellished with her fancy stitches, the silky fabrics are quite lovely.
Foxy Margaret is also working on a large Railfence quilt for a very special friend. She will be working on it at home and, hopefully, we can add borders next time.
Gilly, as you must have noticed in previous posts, is fussy cutting her pieces,, doesn't it look funny, anyone walking into the room at this point would have thought we had all lost the plot! ha ha ha
Chris took the plunge and started her free motion quilting, with a Bernina Stitch Regulator which she really likes. She quilted round all the brightly coloured cats and was very happy with the results... she did good. So, sorry this post is late, you know why so I will leave it at that and start uploading the pics from today's fabulous fun stitchy day! The photos are small but you can click on them if you want to see every detail.
Well, seems that I have posted so many photos on my blog that I have reached my limit... this morning I had to buy more storage space so... I can't upload yesterday's delights until all they activate me. You will have to stay in suspense for a little while longer... sorry Wendy! he he heUpdate.... I now have space for gazillions of photos, 20 GB, but blogger is not allowing uploading. Seems other bloggers are having the same issues so, I guess we just have to wait.
In my Quilty Quarters I've been making this quilt, a round table topper, I mean that the table is round, I'm not totally crackers. I made one back in 2006 actually, exactly the same but I had used a strong brown hand dyed fabric for the pot trimming bits... and it all ran when I washed it last week. It is already quilted and bound so it's a very fast project to make...
... I make lots of mess with Paper Piecing, this is only the floor, you should see the table top. I'll have a tidying session before I start anything else!
Brenda/Barbara has finished the top of her Christmas Advent Calendar, the snowmen are all standing to attention this time so she's ready to start quilting it.... once she finds which backing fabric to use that is.
My Mum (Gwynneth) wanted a table topper for a round table. She didn't have a pattern so she played about and 'invented' this.. fab isn't it? She's very proud of it you know.
Dotty Maureen continued to work on a commissioned quilt. She used an Aurora baby as she loves to do free motion with the BSR (Bernina Stitch Regulator) she did some very intricate quilting round the bugs.
Gilly's block centres are done so she spent the day cutting squares for the Saw Tooth borders of each one... it's a good job that she likes fussy cutting...
Helen finished free motion quilting her commissioned quilt and was able to make the binding... we just ran out of time for her to stitch it all on, she will finish it at home as it is to be delivered on Thursday next week... so we might never get to see it again.
There aren't many photos to share this time, we were just too busy cutting, stitching, chatting, making important decisions and giggling, as usual....
We meet again in Caverswall Village Hall on Wednesday 13th October, 10am - 3pmKettle Corner will be ready and waiting for you should you like to visit and, of course, "Table Top Shop" will be open all day for your patchwork & quilting needs... actually, the 4 rolls wadding/batting are not on a table because they are too darn big, they stand to attention at the side, he he he
Jenni, after piecing together several small bits of wadding... made her sandwich. No point in wasting wadding/batting left overs when you have a lovely zig-zag with which to join them together... besides, who will know when your quilt is on the wall? She then moved on to the quilting and did a great job of following the tree branches.
Giggly Gillian has completed all 36 Churndash blocks, actually she has 37! She had been shopping to find a perfect sashing fabric, and find it, she did... the one she chose is perfect. There will be corner stones too... I will show you next time... looking really good!
As it was raining, Messy Maureen came for the day, if it's good weather she stays away to enjoy it. So, she made a sandwich and quilted her wall hanging, with very pooophy poly wadding to make a really pooophy quilt.
We've been meeting in Uttoxeter for exactly one year now and all the ladies remain enthusiastic and addicted.. perfect eh! We meet again next Tuesday, 12 October, 10am - 3pm.
Not as comfortable as Caverswall Village Hall with it's lovely big tables, but the job has to be done... Sandwiching. Mum came over to use my floor to make hers, ooooch, ouch... it's a long time to wait until Friday, so this was her only option... ooooch ouch, ha ha
I hope you have remembered that there's no meeting on Wednesday this week.
I bet you were expecting me to post about our road trip to Kenilworth yesterday? OK.. so I will.... In a nut shell... Dotty Maureen's car broke down so we didn't go! We weren't even going in her car, all this happened on her journey to my house, he he he... Not a problem though, the binding can wait.... it was like being given an extra day to do stuff, so I did... cleaning and sorting mostly, but that means... tadaaa.... that I have today ALL FOR ME!!! Can you guess what I will be doing? Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
