Stitching News

Fran Cupcake started a new project... she decided that the Log Cabin block is brilliant for using only little bits of your favourite fabrics... that way you can still keep the big bits to stash, stroke and love... what a strange idea... NOT!
Fanfare for a finish... Toot Toot Toot for Fran's beautiful cushion with appliqué petals, hand embroidery, couching done by machine and by hand
and a perfectly pieced zipped backing!!! What a lovely piece of art it is too...
Giggly Gillian added the last of her borders. We carefully calculated and cut her fabric to get the birds all the right way up... thrilled to bits with the quilt, Gillian will need to be sandwiching next time.
Lovely Lyn is making a bug quilt... love the bugs!! only the quilted kind mind you...
Lyn is very pleased with her blocks. The patterns are from the book Flower Festival which, as I write this, is available in my very own shop!
Jean Bean is threatening to make her sandwich next week. The back is ready in Jean's very own and totally fabulous way, which is becoming quite the trend in my very own quilt shop... isn't it wonderful to inspire others!

Stitching News

My Wife Beth has almost finished her second cute-ett-y cute Advent Calendar.
All she needs now is to add the little Christmas embellishment... She's waiting for a delivery of bits and bobs in my very own shop because I temporarily ran out!
While Beth waits for my delivery, she's making a fabulous backing for her rainbow quilt. Based on the Bargello, this is Beth's Fudgello!
Wendy is making a little project that I had requested of her
... it's turning out to be a bit of a job! The result will be worth it!
Jenny Barlaston made her beautiful Batik sandwich...
I guess more locally, we could call it a Batik Butty! No excuse now... it must be quilted!

Jenny's Batik Beauty

Jenny Barlaston has been working on the blocks for this quilt top for several weeks.
She was delighted to hold up it up and to announce that it was done...
I took two photos because I couldn't decide which way looked best!
Finished and ready to be sandwiched. It's another commissioned quilt.
I've just realised... our ladies seem to be getting a lot of quilt making requests of late.
They do all make the most beautiful quilts so it's no wonder really!

Stitching News

Brenda Barbara quilted... free motion in the background of her main picture blocks to make the bright colours stand proud and with walking foot to stitch the frames with variegated purple. She started and finished the quilting all in the one day.
Sheila sat cosily snuggled under her commission quilt as there was hand stitching to be done... every one of the roses will be hand appliquéd but the leaves will be done by machine... how very daring to mix methods...
I bet the quilt police would cringe... good job we don't let them in!
Nicola is back with us... she stitched on the final pieces for the border then, as you can see, sandwiched and quilted. There's just a couple of rows to do on the outer border then the binding so I'm thinking it could be finished very soon.
Michelle My Belle finished the centre of her giant project. Using two layer cakes easily makes a huge quilt. Michelle has been commissioned to make this one and by the end of the day the borders were on...
Caverswall Quilt Cave amounts of tables are required for the sandwich!!
This is the only picture from our Quilt Cave meeting this week.
My Wife Beth took it for me... isn't that the cutest advent reindeer!

Stitching News

New Sue finished her Bow Tie quilt. Toot toot toot.
The fabrics are mostly from Moda's Little Black Dress range. I'm thinking the picture doesn't really do this quilt any justice as the prints are quite lovely closer up. Sue's piecing is spot on perfect too!
Moda have released Little Black Dress 2 ready for early next year.
As predicted, New Sue finished the top of her baby snuggle... cute-e-tty cute indeed!
wait till you see what she made for the backing!!
Giggly Gillian's blocks required just a little bit of trimming but then she was able to stitch them all together. Gillian loves this quilt so she's already planning to make another for her very own self, this one will be gifted as soon as it is finished you see.
Annbacan started a new project and wishes only to use neutral tones. The pattern she chose was a little complicated so, we broke it down a little and soon realised that she will get the very same design by making 2000 Split 4-Patch blocks... I jest for my own amusement on the quantity, of course!
Princess Jackie is making another fabulous kiddy snuggle (quilt) Primary brights this time. She's also on a mission to actually quilt some of her PHD's... that's Projects Half Done taking her away from the common label of being a 'Topper' he he he

Tooting For Judith... And Jenny

Lady Judith has been busy finishing off projects and, lucky for us, she brought them in to show to us... trumpets at the ready..... toot toot toot
.
Judith started this one at the Foldy Fun workshop with Jenny Barlaston.
We have another workshop for the very same project on Saturday this week.

Getting ahead with the hand made Christmas presents... this should keep any chef cosy and warm as it's been sandwiched with wadding and quilted.
Lady Judith also attended the Suffolk Puff Tree workshop with Jenny Barlaston
the ladies really enjoy the workshops with Jenny, they all leave as relaxed as if they had been to the spa all day!
Yet another finish to tootytoot for and again this lovely little festive quilt was started with Jenny Barlaston at our very recent workshop
Judith's Sister -in Law cross-stitched the little nursery rhyme blocks and gave Judith the task of using them to make a kiddy quilt snuggle. Judith finished all of her star blocks and made a good start on her sashing... looking good and snuggley so far.
