PIP Camp day 2.

Day 2 of our PIP camp was fun, even though I could only stay until 2pm as today was also Quilt Class day. I have pictures until lunch time then you can flick to PIP blog for the afternoon shots.

This is everyone in full productive mode, machines buzzing, ladies chatting and giggling.....

Therese's colours, she had completed ten blocks just before lunch. The next 25 will be in different fabrics based around these colours.

Arabela chose to make her quilt with these crisp fresh colours.

These are Anabela's colours. She is using the fabric from old shirts, very good recycling!

Milly's colours, with Milly's manicured hand! she is using lots of shades of blue with bright pink touches.... it is going to be lovely.

Trudi's colours, this is going to be very bright, someone is going to be very pleased with this quilt. Trudi is making a huge Chunky Churndash quilt, 120 blocks!

Anabela (yes we have 2 Anabelas) is working on quilting her project. This one has to be finished this week. She is quilting using the skills she learned with Jenny Bowker too.

And now???? where is everyone, there was no fire alarm??? the machines are all here so they haven't gone home???

Aha...... lunch time,!
what a feast that was! A few ladies bring one dish and look what we get... a banquet of delicious food. This is what we did yesterday too but different ladies brought different food. One very cool thing about a multinational group of ladies, is the wonderful things we produce in our kitchens.

PIP Camp, day 1

One day into our PIP camp and a lot of progress has been made with the Chunky Churndash projects.

Here you see Anneliese who decided to cut out all the pieces for the churndash block first, and Ursula who started with the hour glass blocks, here she is trimming them.

Here is Regina, she is trimming her brightly coloured Log Cabin blocks.

Sally, she is piecing her blocks together, if you remember, Sally is way ahead with her project because she made the blocks weeks ago. It's looking lovely.

Therese, she is making her Chunky Churndash using a mountain of different fabrics that she has acquired. It will be mostly reddish tones... looking good so far.....

Ursula has finished her Log Cabin quilt and bought it in for us too admire, it's made from flannels and feels so snugly! She has quilted it with lots of the new styles that we learned at our Jenny Bowker workshop recently.
and after I took the photograph we all gathered around it to admire it more closely, we quilters so love to do that!!!
This is everyone busy....
This moment was very funny, Trudi sat at her machine sewing away..... all of a sudden her expression changed, she turned her machine off and just sat there! Finally she confessed to having sewn many many triangles.. but on the wrong side! This was quite funny, but then Anabela confessed that she had done the same thing but had hidden hers from us so that we wouldn't know!!! Well, I just HAD to get a shot of the fun.... here Trudi and Anabela are owning up to their "duh" moment, draped in the new bunting............

A drum role for Milly... with a little help from Ursula, the Double Irish Chain quilt top is finished! The IWP Quilt Group made this quilt for a charity raffle two years ago and Milly was the VERY lucky winner. She bought it in today to show. Here she is pointing to my injury, I cut my hand whilst cleaning a rotary blade, and I am always telling the ladies to be careful with their blades!!!
Garen couldn't spend the day with us today but she called in to see how we were getting along. She will be with us tomorrow though. Here with our lovely Regina.
Arabela also had to cancel at the last minute this morning... motherhood! But she came in to get tips about making the hour glass blocks. She will come tomorrow though, Daddy can do the Mommy duties!

PIP Camp (Patchworkers in Portugal) again tomorrow... watch this space!

IWP Quilt Group

Our Round Robin was organised by Garen, she got the idea from here.

Most of us were reluctant to get involved with this project in the beginning, but we are very happy now to have taken part. Most of us are pictured here, from left to right, Arabela, Therese, Helen, Susan, Angie, Garen, Ursula, Ronny & Luisa.

Today has been one of the very few days when I haven't needed to call out "cheese!" to get a big smile... they were already there!!! Thanks to Garen.

This is my starter block. It went into the brown paper bag and I didn't see it again for many weeks. Here I am with my Round Robin quilt top. All I have to do now is quilt and bind it. These quilts will be on display at our Quilt show at the end of May.

Here the ladies are all studying the Round Robins, we were all so completely impressed by what we had all actually produced. Each of us adding only a small part. Every one was so different.

When I asked the ladies to raise their hands if they wanted to participate in another Round Robin for the Christmas season... It was a full show of hands!
