Wendy's Quilt

Toot Tootetty Toot for Wendy.
Talk about a sharp intake of breath? We all did it at the same time... deep breath in and hoooooold....... and... exhale, with a whispered...
 "Oh WOW Wendy, it's... " amazing, beautiful, stunning, gorgeous... pick your own word for that bit, but the word is said with the outward breath... then silence hits as we gaze for a while longer... I don't think any of the words we have can fit this quilt.. "Wow" will have to be it!
Wendy really didn't want to make those paper pieced curves for corner blocks but she is sooooooo happy she pulled herself together and stitched them... This beauty is apartment quilted, the centre was quilted separately with the border strips and corner blocks quilted and added afterwards.... now breath out gently with your chosen word.... he he he

Tuesday Stitching?

There was a lot of stitching done by the lovely ladies, for the whole day of Tuesday, you will just have to take my word for it because I only took the one picture, woooops... but what a great picture it is! This quilt sandwich belongs to Rose. It's our very own design... it was going to be a different design but the 'mathemisms' were not up to scratch (I never said I was good at mathemisms!) so we had to invent a new idea... that actually didn't work out to plan either, so, we sliced up a bit more, added a new fabric and ... Voilà! here you have it... looking brilliant and, I'm betting you can't even guess what we did  wrong  different?

Monday Stitching

 Cynthia made a sandwich with her lovely 10 Minute block quilt and started quilting it... but, since Cynth first started, she could only sew in my very own classroom as she didn't have her very own sewing machine, see I said didn't... Now she has a brand new to her sewing machine that works rather beautifully so she can continue to stitch the days away at home... at least that's the plan!

 Jean Bean finished the last of her Kaleidoscope blocks so it was time to play with the placement of them. She wanted a good mix of the pinks and yellows and, after a few switches and swaps, I think we got it just right. Jean started to add her sashing strips... It's looking rather 'splendid' don't you think.

 The ladies who joined us last Thursday came back to continue with their Railfence Table Runners. This Christmas-y one belongs to Pauline. She was very pleased with her corner stones. Pauline will have Christmas-y fabric for her backing so that the table runner will be double sided, double-y useful! She just ran out of time to make her sandwich so, that will be the first job for her next class,

This quilt sandwich belongs to Carole... it's not going to be a table runner though, 'twill be a wall hanging. This time Mr. Black is looking rather good with the help of the red inner border... what a stunning quilt it is too... Red and black were made to be together were't they!! Carole was just about able to make her sandwich so, next time she'll be quilting.
Glenys's quilt escaped the camera, as did all of the other beautiful projects being made, in my very own classroom. It's so very exciting watching all the quilts coming together!

Quilty Quarters

Finally... I found a pocket of time and finished the free motion quilting, it's all trimmed up and waiting for the binding. My Mum Gwynneth volunteered to do that. We only made the quilt to demonstrate what could be made with these Fabric Freedom fabrics... if the binding has to wait for me as well, the fabrics will all be gone by the time I hang the quilt in my very own quilt shop!

Gail's Quilt

Gail brought in her latest finish, Toot Toot Toot for Gail. This lap quilt was made from a Jelly Roll and a bit of background fabric, isn't it lovely! The pattern is in one of the many Jelly Roll books that are available now (I happen to have them in My very own quilt shop actually! wooohoooo)
Saturday Sew Days are very relaxed.
You can bring along any project that you want to work on. Maybe you're looking for a bit of 'piece and quiet' ( yes I know it's not the right piece, it works  for me though) to get on with your stitching or maybe you're needing a helping hand, advice or fabric... of course I can help if you need fabric.

This is Gail's new project... a Baby Play Mat (Quilt).
This framed square design is great for kiddie quilts, you can make the centre squares any size you like so that you can use picture fabric without cutting heads and tails off. By the end of the day these blocks were stitched together and framed with the very useful, Mr. Black... are you shocked? Don't be, it looks great, I'll show you next time Gail comes to my very own classroom... actually, next time will be Thursday for the 4th Stack-n-Whack Kaleidoscope workshop, so she might not bring it.. soon though, we'll see it soon.
Sheila finished a spectacular Mat & Ruler Bag and lots of ladies came for project support, that's why there aren't any more pictures! My excuse, and I will stick with it!

Friday Quilt Club

Late Sue's cracking on with her Kaleidoscope blocks. The pattern repeat on her chosen fabric was only about 8" so her blocks are smaller than most of the others you've seen... just as Kaleidoscope-y as every one else's as the action happens mostly in the centres.

Helen and Maid Marion are grinning like Cheshire cats these days. They have reached the stage for trimming up the various blocks and stitching them together.
This one belongs to Maid Marion... she's being very crafty and waiting for Helen to sort out the instructions before she stitches anything, clever lady eh...

 This is a picture of Helen's Heirlooom quilt, My camera decided to make a thick grey line through the bottom of the picture... (that's why it's a bit chopped off Helen, sorry).. but I think you can see how brilliant it is, the quilt not the picture... nor the shop in the background but I must say, it does look rather good there in the background!!! Did I tell you that I have my Very Own Quilt Shop?? he he

Bailey's Ice Cream?

Brenda Barbara's Stack-n-Whack Kaleidoscope blocks are all finished!! The fabric she chose as her background is a Moda Batik, it reminds Brenda of Bailey's Ice Cream, she mentions the fact almost every week! Brenda trimmed the 'dog ears' and any odd slithers from her blocks so that they were perfect, then chose a rather fabulous sashing fabric and set to, cutting all the strips ready to join everything together.

All of the Kaleidoscope quilts are coming together beautifully, don't you think? Every fabric choice has given the most amazing results... here's Dotty's work in progress, at least it's one half... she decided to take her project on it's very own little journey with different size blocks and an original setting... we will see this top finished very soon.
