Blythe Bridge Quilt Cave

Would you believe it?... It blooming snowed again!!! Ladies turned up late because they had been wondering whether to treat themselves to another Snow Day Sew Day at home.... The heating works perfectly in the Blythe Bridge Quilt Cave so we were very comfy all day... they don't have as many tables as my ladies have become accustomed to using though!!! ha ha ha, I don't think anywhere could have too many tables for my lovely ladies....
Dotty Maureen started yet another project... applique this time. She's using sticky stuff to do raw edge applique and will use machine stitches to sew everything down... might even be fancy stitches....
Shirley Lerly had her very own Bernina Baby to play with... oh is she ever in love with the BSR! She says it is absolutely fantastic, and marvelous, and, and, and... she practiced all, all all day, here's a sample of her free-motion work, first time ever.... and she even wrote her name and we could all read it and she is totally chuffed about that!

Kate was quilting too, using her walking foot to go round the flower petals and to shadow quilt them once or twice, or three times round... there's no definite decision on that just yet...

Barbie has been stitching over the holiday.. all of her blocks are completed and here she is just leveling them up ready to start sewing them together....
Helen also had her Very own Bernina... she's called 'Nina'. Today Helen learned how to machine stitch binding, back and front, lots and lots of pins and a steady hand is all that's needed....
Joan The Shop started this purple project ages ago but it got side tracked by other things... probably quilts. This one is based on Lilly's Colours but Joan added sashing to the blocks. We have math to do to figure out how to get the border blocks to fit.... ewwwww math!
My Mum (Gwynneth) has started another project.. you're not shocked are you! I'm loving the fabrics in this one, it's a pattern from one of my favourite block books it's very easy to follow and every block is 9" finished so it's easy to mix and match them.
Lizi admitted that choosing her fabric placement is driving her 'nuts'... with so many fabrics it's really hard to keep them from landing with the same ones side by side... she was ever so quiet while she was concentrating...

Gilly is on the home straight now... she had a few difficulties getting everything to line up so we released a little pressure from the presser foot and... hey presto... it was just the ticket.. see the pile of "done" blocks there.
Brenda Barbara came at lunchtime... Dotty Maureen went to fetch her so she didn't have to drive in the snow. This project is the one she started at the Jennie Rayment fun day we had last year... She's on a mission to finish it and has a great idea for her borders...
Tadaaaaaa.... Helen's finished quilt, she's working on the label now... it couldl be called 'Godfather', well, maybe it will as it's for her son's godfather... what a lucky guy he is... next Helen is going to work on her Grand Mothers hexagon quilt...

Maid Marion was supposed to be practicing her free motion... there was so much going on today though and she likes to see what everyone is up to.. so she wandered around getting tips and ideas from everyone.... you can see that she didn't get much free motion done can't you... it doesn't matter, she enjoyed her day and that's all I care about... anyway, she has her own Bernina Baby so she can play at home now too....

I have had word that the heating is all sorted out at our lovely Caverswall Hall but... just in case, please check back here for confirmation of which hall we will be playing in for next Wednesday, 12th and Friday14th.
