Dying Fabrics

I have all the strips cut out ready to make my Scrappy Bargello lap quilt... but this morning, I just wasn't in the mood to sew. I decided to dye fabric instead!!!
Dave offered to wire up my top loader washing machine (from Brazil) to a transformer because it is 110v, plumbed it in to the garage hosepipe, then he had to clean the machine. As I hadn't got any ph sube, (mordant) off he went to buy some for me. These bits in green because he insisted that I told everyone that he only got one cadbury cream egg as payment for his trouble, anyway........
I got out all my stuff, ripped a lot of half yards of white cotton and set to. Here are my lovely colours ready to play.

Once you have all the dyes, pots and fabric prepared it doesn't take too long to get creative. An hour or so later, I am waiting for the fabrics to gobble up the colours so I can rinse them. Here are a few of the pots after I added the mordant.... I use Procion dyes.

Looks like I will spend the rest of my day rinsing, washing, drying and ironing.
