Stitching News

They are all coming out of the woodwork now... The unfinished Christmas projects. Last year Christmas jumped out on us before we were ready with our stitchy things... No problem though... we can finish them this year because, as I do every year, I found out that there really will be another Sewing Prevention Season in December 2016! You have been warned! ha ha ha Usually it's too hot and sunny for us to think about festive stitching, but this year... where I live at least, it's blooming freezing.. we have had the heating turned on!!! I kid you not.

Aileen only needs to add the binding to her tree skirt and she will be well ahead of the Christmas making game for 2016! What a lovely design, all hand blanket stitched on the applique Snowmen and Gingerbread folk.
The lady making this baby play mat hasn't done any sewing since she made her last grandbaby quilt, 27 years ago!! She is having fun making another grandbaby quilt... though she didn't expect that she would. Oh how the fabrics have changed in all that time... Oh yes! we noticed that too!

Sandwich Saturday brought New Sue to use my tables to make her Churndash Sandwich... this quilt is double sided but I will save that treat for Sue's toot toot toot fanfare, you won't have to wait long... you know Sue doesn't sleep already don't you.

Also to layer and sandwich, Fran Cupcake with her lovely vintage-y quilt... The backing was exactly the same size as the top so it was a little tricky to line up... but we did it and we have a cunning plan should anything shift in the quilting process... It's much better to have your backing fabric and wadding at least two inches larger that the top on all sides... total 4" of course.
There was a mini workshop for those catching up on the Block of the Month project as well... no pictures though sorry.
I've been cutting millions and millions of Christmas themed Fat Quarters ready for you... I'm not going to badger you into starting... but you really have been given a huge clue... ha ha ha
