New Sue finished this beautiful longer term quilt top... she's gone back to it in between all the super speed projects she's made of late. A sandwich making slot has been booked for Saturday.

Princess Jackie, our first prize winning appliquer, also has a quilt top ready for sandwiching... I think it's a gifting project for a kiddo... Jackie wanted to make a pieced quilt... just to know she didn't forget how!! 

Jean Bean needed a super quick kiddy quilt and this large print fitted the bill perfectly
This picture is a little behind the times as Jean was making the binding today having already sandwiched and quilted it!

All Day Di brought in a pattern to make two cushions. After cutting out the applique hearts all was not well, Di didn't like the pattern... we played about with the design, here's the resulting funky hearts... happy to tell you, she loves them now!

Jeannette Dilly started yet another project. It's going to be Attic Windows and using this night sky panel... looks like it will be an amazing view.

This is also Jeannette Dilly's... a quilt top... She had purchased the fabrics on Monday afternoon at the fun event we had for the 29th February and had the finished top ready on Thursday... 

Brenda Barbara remembered the Flamingos this week...
Don't they look great... 2 Large floor cushions are going to be made... perfect for reading books... if the young ladies can stop admiring their new cushions that is!

So that's another sandwich going to be made on Saturday

Fran Cupcake wanted to make a special cushion for gifting... She found this budgie fabric... not the right budgie colour for the budgie she was thinking of... Behold.... I had the perfect stripe... see the border fabric... it's a perfect match to the original budgie!!! Tweet tweet tweet... a fabulous finish feathery fanfare for Fran.

Quilt-As-You-Go and Apartment joining. Believe it or not this and the next picture are of the very same quilt, double sided and fabulous...Our Sheila had to be very careful to get the two sides almost identical...

There is a very subtle difference... tricky to spot for the untrained eye... How very fabulous though, and it's all been made from my wonderful selection of Beautiful Batik fabrics... toot toot toot Our Sheila!

Christabelle has finished another fabulous and original pattern. A super useful tote with free motion quilting... She used In R Form wadding...  it really gives excellent results, especially for bags... we all agree! Toot toot toot Christabelle

Tooting now for Gale's fabulous and finished, Giant reversible tote bag... My goodness those fabrics are wonderful... Gail chose great fabrics too! ha ha ha

There are six cushions in this pile... The top one is finished and  ready for tooting... toot toot toot Jeannette. The others need the embroidery stitching around the borders and the heart button stitching in place... they're almost there... aren't they dramatic!

Super Strippy Square Bag

Finally!!! I remembered to take pictures of Jenny's Super Strippy Square Bag.... 

Any width of strippy-strip works but, obviously, different sized strips will make different sizes of Super Strippy Square Bags

The workshop will be on Saturday 19th March 

It's made from strips of fabric... did you guess that!!! ha ha ha

Staffordshire Patchworkers And Quilters

Last month... because it's no longer February! I neglected to blog post about it being the first Thursday of the month and, therefore, time to go to a meeting of the Staffordshire Patchworkers and Quilters.
Folk had been calling me to ask... "Is there a meeting this week?"
Well there was a meeting, and most of us remembered to go... we always have a meeting in February... we only miss out Augusts and Januaries.
And so, here I am reminding you that there is a first Thursday of the month this week so... there's another SPQ meeting, March!!
It's AGM time again... so there's no speaker coming.
I know that some folk don't go to the AGM for fear of being landed with a job... but someone has to stand up to fill the vacancies...
I think it's just the biggest seat up for grabs this year, Chairlady... no pressure then!!.. but you are too late to be nominated... so you're safe!
There might be a Kitchen rota job or a helper rota job, you could sign up to be a Quilt Angel at the Uttoxeter Quilt Show in April.... nothing too taxing.... but do come along.
The meeting won't be the same without you!!!

Our New Block Of The Month Project

If everything goes to plan today, this quilt will be delivered to my very own quilt shop... There's been a lot of interest shown when I've crumbled from my silence and spoken about our new and upcoming Block Of The Month, even though it has been a little bit of a secret...

Now it's time to show it off on my classroom wall, so that folk can decide "To do it", or "Not to do it..." that's not such a big question though is it... let me help you.... go on and... "Do It!!!"he he he

Such a lot of work has gone into producing this lovely project

On Saturday 14th May, Starting at 10:30am, there will be a morning gathering in my shop so that Angela can give you an introduction to our first block of the month project.

She will be giving information of what's coming up, including fabric requirements etc for the first block and will endeavour to answer any questions you may have.

All I ask is that you book a chair to sit on, bring a notepad and writing thing, for making any extra notes, and your deposit... which is only payable if you decide to book for the first class on 21st May, the following Saturday.

Stitching News

Toot toot toot.... a fabulous and finished fanfare is needed for Morning Josie's most beautiful cushion... made with my lovely Moda Linen Blend as the main fabric... luxurious it is too. Josie hand embroidered the heather detail....
she likes a bit of hand stitching. 

While the tooting is going on let's have another round for Susan. Toot toot toot... this cot size project (baby quilt) has been made for gifting... Susan wanted it to be sex neutral as the baby colour will be a surprize... boy or girl...
this lovely project will be perfect!

Peggy made a quick sandwich... it's a little quilt and only needed the one table for a short time... she set about quilting and got loads done before home time... Peggy's making twin quilts, the other is still a top... we can sandwich that one next week.

All Day Di finally arrived at the book making part... stitching the pages together, in the right order... it was tricky as there are lots of layers to stitch through... including the Bosal In R Form wadding... she had to improvise a bit... and it worked!

I had a job to keep up with Brenda Barbara... every time I went to her she was stitching something different... Here she's hand stitching the binding on her perfectly pink and purple quilt... one time she was cutting Chicken fabric to size for another project and then there was the background preparation for the Flamingo... who had forgotten to come to class!!! ha ha ha

Merrily's been working out of the box again... I'm not actually sure she spends any time at all inside the box!! These Harris Tweeds have been collected, cut up, stitched back together to be cut up again and stitched into something very useful... you will have to trust me, it's going to be great!

Sheila's Batik Quilt-As-You-Go blocks are all joined into larger units with the apartment joining method... she stayed in the corner hand stitching for most of the day... it won't be long to tooting time now... 

A new customer came to ask a few questions about her project... which is amazing!!
Hours and hours of Hexagon hand stitching... so many cute little fabrics, old and new... We are always happy to help... and to interfere!!! ha ha ha
