A Rose-y Post Of Stitching News

Rose, very proudly it has to be said, held up her fabulous and finished Foundation Paper Pieced spirally cushion. This project has had Rose reach happy-highs and 'low-fed-ups' but it is now, totally toot toot toot-a-bubble ...

Some of the blocks made by Rose to unintentionally practice her Foundation Paper Piecing technics... nothing need be wasted you see... what a fabulous backing for her cushion... teeny tiny little Log Cabin blocks... just fabulous.

Rose purchased these fabulous fellows as a pattern and kit from our pilgrimage to the Festival Of Quilts in August... and now we are all thinking... 'how did we miss them?' Aren't they Christmassy... and  Fabulous and finished and want-a-bubble!

I said it was a Rose-y post!! With all of those fabulous finishes, it's time to start something new. The pattern was also purchased at Festival Of Quilts and Rose has been itching to make it for all those months... Fabric chosen....

Heat and Bond traced upon then stuck onto the backs of the fabrics and wavy lines, carefully measured following the pattern, cut out and stuck in place... By the time Rose went home the background had been completed and it looks great!

So a few weeks ago we gave a fabulous and finished fanfare for Rose's Hare quilt... it created a lot of  interest. People were inspired! Queen Jacquie was so inspired that she got the pattern and fabrics sorted to make one for her very own self.

Fran Cupcake's Santa Window... inspiring us all with it's fabulous embellishments...  especially the beautiful beard... Gail want's to make her Santa window all 3D and twinkle-y-bearded too. She had a little bearding practice and the excitement grew!

New Sue has been working on this fabulous festive wall hanging... beautifully stitched and embellished... Quilted too and with binding in place, there's just a little hand stitching needed... I bed we will be tooting this beauty next week.

Stitching News

Let's start with a loud toot toot toot fanfare for Just Enda's finished and fabulous, festive tree skirt. She only started it last Monday and now it's done. A very clever design. Edna, If you read this, please share the pattern details... people will want to know!
Update... here's the link to the pattern Edna used Peppermint Swirl Christmas Tree Skirt
Thank You Edna,
Annbacan was very happy to announce that her 4 festive cushions are not only finished but they are fabulous and just in time to adorn the new sofa for Christmas. Actually... I think these are for someone else's sofa... Ann made her very own selection a few weeks ago. Confused? Me too!

Norma has a long list of people wanting/needing lap quilts for their very own knees... As the cold weather bites it's wonderful to snuggle under a little quilty-ness. So, sandwich number one is ready and...

Norma's number two sandwich was all ready on Saturday and today, Monday, she stitched the binding in place as she's been quilting at home.

Just Edna is making this lovely bright quilt for gifting... she's enjoying all the big, easy pieces after her double wedding ring marathon

What can you do with all the left over fabrics?
How about this fabulous backing...
Edna was kept busy all day.

Monday Sheila was ever so busy on her main project for most of the day. Then, later in the afternoon, she fancied a change... lick-etty-split... 4 festive bunting pillows were well on their way to completion... there will be probably be 20 cushions by next Monday!

Annbacan also started a new and festive Bunting Cushion... they are proving very popular. One word of small warning though, like a top tip! Ann cannot and will not, recommend using a Frixion Pen to draw her applique letters onto the sticky stuff... do you need to know why?

Our Carol wanted to make a festive wall hanging... influenced by Jean Bean's large festive quilt she had purchased this fabulous fabric from Henry Glass... tricky to cut up as it's got so many little details... So, just border it and call it done... perfect!

Stitching News

Fran Cupcake finished her fabulous and festive Santa Window Wall Hanging. So many people have been inspired by Fran's idea... really, I only have one panel left!  Of course I had to take a closer picture for you, you just have to see the detail...

Shiny snowflakes stitched to the snowflakes. Solid Gold (!!) sequins on his belt buckle and just look at Santa's beard and 'tash... melty-hearty-fab-u-lous. Fran couched Superior Thread's Razzle Dazzle in place but left the ends for tying off at home... but she didn't tie them off, she frayed them, oh my goodness is Fran ever the embellishment queen! Toot toot toot Fran Cupcake.

Susan spied opportunity to make a quick sandwich with her blue Six Pack lap quilt She had had to quilt all day on the other sandwich she'd made to get the pins out for this one... like a quilting production line!

Now then... It's tooting time for Princess Jackie's marathon make. Baby is due to be joining our world on Friday so there was no time to waste. It's beautiful, bright and totally fabulous and it's finished in good time. Toot toot toot Jackie

No fabrics left over either...
They were all used to make this excellent backing...

PM Pam often looks after her family's pooches. To make sure they have a great time, and their owners don't forget the necessary things, like collars and leads, Pam decided to make Doggie Overnight Bags! How cute is this! It's made with Art Gallery Denim too. Toot toot toot, it's a fabulous finish.

Queen Jacquie was inspired by the thousands of miles worth of festive bunting that Jean Bean has been making and she wanted a few miles of her very own... 20 miles metres of Bias Binding to start with... though it gets called Bunting Tape my most customers.

I'm having a blooming time with my silly purple camera... it keeps playing up. That's why Princess Jackie's pictures are not as clear as my usual standard... I took this picture when I was trying to sort it out and I thought... ooooh, that shop looks inviting! ha... please consider your very own self personally INVITED!!!

Stitching News

Just Edna finished her Double Wedding Ring Quilt... Hurrr-Aaaahhhh
Toot toot toot-etty-toot-toooooooot. My goodness it's been a marathon for Edna but she never backed down... onward and upward... a bit more upward and a bit more but she climbed it and now we all get to appreciate it. Well done Edna, what an amazing gift it will be.... It is Fab-U-lous!

Monday Sheila has been commissioned... not your usual creative colours! She wasn't sure how to get started so we played with a few ideas. Then she announced that she actually has to make two quilts. Lets watch this one, I'm curious to see what Sheila will do.

PM Pam couldn't be happier with this quilt top. Sometimes when we finish a top, we say things like... "If I made it again, I would change this"... or "I would do that bit in a different colour" but not for our Pam... she is delighted with everything... me too!

Sister Susie chose her pattern one week. Purchased the Fabrics the next week. Traced the pattern the next week. I think she was putting off getting properly started... Is she happy now? Oh yes... now that it's time to play... Susie is very happy.

Beryl had to put her quilting on hold for a few weeks to play a Florence Nightingale role for a friend. All sorted now... Beryl wasted no time at all on arriving to class and was able to finish the quilting and trim off the crusts. Then  just had enough time to make the binding... We will be tooting this beautiful quilt very soon.

Patricia hand pieces all of her projects... She sews very quickly too. This Jigsaw Piece design was an idea she had sketched out on inchy paper, and yes I sell it... It's called "The Lake District" not the paper, the quilt!.. It really does represent the Lake District, don't you think?

Annbacan is making this quilt for gifting... Lovely. What a very cute little elephant! I hope you can see the embroidered elephants in the corner stones too... Binding next, then tooting.

Toot toot toot time... a fanfare is needed for this fabulous and finished quilt made by Chris... The Faux Piped Binding finishes it off really well.... Now that it's finished it's going to be shipped to Uzbekistan!

Crumb piecing... not just for quilts!
Norma is going to wear hers...
What a great idea.

Festive Stitching News

PM Pam's Bunting Cushion, all for her very own self...
I'm ever so chuffed that people want to make them.
We're coming up with all sorts of other ideas too.

New Sue spied enough room for a sandwich making opportunity, as people started to pack up Sue was plotting and planning... but these things have to be done. I'm guessing Sue will be quilting this lovely project at out Sunday Sewing Patchwork Party on Sunday.

Gail will be ready for this very next Christmas, only thirty something days to go... 3 festive stockings, all the same but quite different, only need a few more stitches on their binding to be called 'finished'... and fabulous of course!

All Day Di had a wonderful day planning all the cushions she's going to make. All the different words she can use to "Festivate her cushions"!!! (I know!... a fabulous new word... I made it up you know... ha ha ha) This particular one is shiny and glittery but my camera refuses to share that with you! It's all stitched with silver metallic thread... fabulous

Brenda Duck couldn't help her very own self, she watched Di working away on her festive Bunting cushion, but not for too long... the urge took over and soon she was engrossed making one for her very own self too!
I am absolutely positive that you will be seeing more Festive Bunting Cushions...

Stitching News

Monday Sheila surprised her very own self making this quilt.
She really enjoyed 'just' sewing squares together... I say 'just' because  that's what it is... sewing squares together... but when they are ready cut, perfect six inch squares, that's even better. We don't always need a complicated patchwork design, it's fun to go easy/easier sometimes!

Sheila enjoyed sewing squares together so much that she stitched even more for the quilt backing!! I thought we had sold a lot of the Black and Cream, Angie's Six Packs... looks like Sheila bought them all! The professional quilting was a treat for Sheila too. The quilt is huge and she just couldn't face it... It  just needs binding now

Susan finished her gifting quilt top. The fabrics were chosen to the pattern book's requirements and, as often happens, Susan had enough fabrics left over to make a fabulous backing. It's a very effective design don't you think? Sandwich time.

Princess Jackie spied a perfect opportunity to pin a quick "Elephant" sandwich... Such a beautiful bright and happy quilt. Jackie will need to quilt almost every hour of every day to get it finished on time... nothing new there then! ha

Norma's Blue and White quilt made with one Angie's Six Pack. Quilted with diagonal lines which looks great... Just the binding to go on now. Norma needs this quilt finished for sewing prevention season... 41 days to go!

Foundation Paper Piecing with tiny little "Logs". Rose purchased the pattern during our Annual Pilgrimage to the Festival Of Quilts this year. It's a very effective design but my goodness Rose has had to use a lot of brain power to get the colours in the right order!

All Day Di's fabulous and finished lap quilt, bordered with Flying Geese. Made using a Charm Pack from Moda's French General collection,... I'm actually thinking there might be two Charm Packs in this lovely gifting quilt Toot toot toooooot...

Christal had scoured the internet searching for her 'next' project.
She knew which colours she wanted, also knew what size she wanted it to be... That's a good start... some folk don't know that bit! Design chosen, 9-Patches with applique hearts, perfect... fabrics purchased, licketty-split, top all done! fabulous.

Merrily purchased this panel a while ago. I think she said it was from Uttoxeter Quilt Show last year... no, wait... this year, 2017. She had no idea how to quilt it so, I interfered, ha! All those ends to tie off... sorry Merrily! and in Gold metallic thread!!! All worth while now... It's a fabulous, toot toot toot-abubble finish with Faux Pied Binding to boot.

Jeannette Dilly made the light background block one week and the dark background block the next... She's not quite sure how to proceed from here. Will she make a quilt with the stars on point and therefore needing to make many more, or a table runner... needing one more? or two cushions? We will have to wait to see.

Enid came back!! She broke a bone in her hand... her best hand!!! How very silly! All sewing had to be stopped while it mended but now she's back in training... a little light chatter and walking foot stitching to start off with... boy has she missed us!!
This is Just Edna's job for the next few days... 90 miles of hand stitching for the bias binding edges of her superb, Double Wedding Ring gifting quilt! Ooooh... will she do it in time???

These pictures are from last week... I am trying to catch up, honest!
It's a busy-busy time in my very own, wonderful quilt shop... and life come to that!
In my classroom we are having a ball!!! With all the subjects we cover, the laughter... and tears, the mathemisms and creative planning and cleaning/tidying, sorting and arranging (and fabric ordering!) and generally keeping us all happy... the perfect purple camera gets forgotten about.
I am not really apologising...really... just stating fact, ha!
