Stitching News

Peggy was delighted to have finished the top of her baby play mat... trimmed with pinks for gifting to a little baby girl. It's made with one of the packs made up by my very own self. Each square is 6" cut and there are 30 in each pack... every one is different fabric, Ideal for Eye Spy quilts.

Lynne Scatterpin is joining her beautiful, huge blocks together, it's very exciting watching the secondary and third-arary patterns forming (I know Mum, but I love making up new words!) Lyn is considering the apartment method for quilting this project. In this picture she's auditioning inner border fabrics.

Michelle My Belle has finished her stabilizing stitching, done with her walking foot to accentuate the secondary pattern lines, and maybe even the third-arary ones, who knows! There will be lots of lovely free motion quilting too... I hope you can see it?

We had a few new ladies join us this week, none are beginners but they wanted to play with us all the same... it's fun in my little quilt shop you know! Anyway... this lady, Jeanette had been a quilter for years and had to give up because she hand stitched but couldn't with poorly hands... Our wonderful NHS have sorted her out now so she's tootling along getting reacquainted with her hand stitching skills, very cool eh!

Jingle Bells?

Sewing Prevention Season is only 47... yup... 47 days away... I remember telling you ages ago that I had found out that Christmas Day would be on the 25th December so that you had time... Projects are being started and finished in every class and at Caverswall Quilt Cave, here's a few...

 Brenda Barbara needs three of these quick table toppers... it's lucky they are quicker than a flash to make then eh!

Stitching News

Fran Cup Cake tried her first Log Cabin block two weeks ago and, it's fair to say... she is in luuuuurvvvve with them. No wonder, look how cool they are! She's having a ball making more... Stars next!

The pattern for the little ducks is from an older magazine, a British one... ooooher I forgot which one now. 

New Sue sandwiched another fabulous project. This one is made from beautiful Batik fabrics... They're not all from my very own shop but my selection enhanced the whole ensemble!
You should see how many Batiks there are on my very own shelves these days, 9 more Robert Kaufman lovelies are due in today!

Lovely Lyn started making fabulous appliqué flower blocks... she's chuffed with them too. They're not stitched yet, they just had the sticky stuff treatment...

Rose made a sandwich, one of many she has waiting but this beautiful and fun kiddy one jumped to the front of the queue!

Stitching News

Morning Judith finished her quilting and only had about 20" of the border to stitch by hand. A lovely quilt which will soon be ready for a finishing fanfare. It might very well be gifted soon too.

Monday Sheila gets her very own Toot toot toot for her second finished, extra long, table runner... it's about three miles in length!... over 7 foot? I can mathemise inches easily enough but when the ladies talk about feet I'm lost... unless I am in a shoe shop!

Monday Sheila started a new project. All of her electrical kitchen toys will have their very own quilted covers, starting with the Ohio Star blocks

AnnBacan started these Festive pictures many months ago... with lots of time 'till they were needed, they got set to one side while Ann played with other patchwork things... now time is running out... come on Ann, lets aim for Christmas 2013! he he he

Longport Lynda continued making Quilt-As-You-Go blocks. She switched to blue fabrics this time but the back will continue with the black and white theme, unless the green blocks turn themselves at the very last minute... again!

Christabelle has been stitching at home. She purchased these fabrics only last week and the quilt is almost finished... and what a lovely quilt it is too.

Fanfare For Lady Judith

Another  gorgeous Toot-ety Toot Toot...  The Lady is on a roll. This quilt started with those lovely and extremely neat nursery rhyme Cross-Stitch pictures... 

Just take a look at the back of the quilt... Jean Bean helped Judith draw and plan her letters. Seems we have our very own font maker!!!

Angela's Hunter's Star

Angela popped in to my very own, very lovely, patchwork and quilting shop to purchase beautiful thread so that she could get started with the quilting of her Hunter's Star project... what a stunning design it makes when you join the Hunter's Star blocks together. Angela's quilt is Lap size and was achieved with one metre of each red and white... fabulous!

Quilt As You Go, Apartment Joining and Double Sided Binding

What a long title... all three are very useful technics and made for a brilliant workshop... even though I do say so for my very own self... the ladies all agreed enthusiastically when I asked for feedback, which I almost always do because there's absolutely no point in me repeating unpopular workshops. So, I will most definitely be booking at least one more Quilt As You Go Saturday. The apartment joining method means that large quilts can be made with more manageable sized sections.

A beautiful Batik Jelly Roll

Gifted black and white fabric one side, luscious greens for the other... don't go worrying about this one... they were put right once she saw the slight error, but oh how we laughed!

One lady used festive reds with gold and sparkling green, you can see it on the top picture. The double sided binding impressed the ladies but no-one added it to their blocks.. they haven't finished adding rooms to their new apartments yet!!!
