It's All About ME

It would take a lot of emails to tell all of my lovely followers and friends about this so... I'm going to shout it out very publicly... 
I have an announcement!!
Last evening I had an appointment with my Oncologist, a guy I/we have been calling The Cancer Man. 
After more than one loooong year of all kinds of emotions, four operations and enough other treatments... he told me that I am good.... I am clear. I am free to go!!! 
He doesn't want to see me again until December, and that's going to be just a routine check up.

Isn't life wonderful!

Stitching News

Merrily grabbed an early moment, before the other ladies arrived for class, to use four tables to spread out all three thirds of her memory gifting quilt... it's another huge quilt made very manageable by the rather fabulous, apartment quilting method.

Di Butterfly spent her stitching day quilting. She was finding it tricky to stitch in the ditch so we moved the needle over so that she had an edge to follow... that might not make sense to you but I say... thank goodness for machines that allow us to move the needle position left and, more importantly... right!

Brenda Barbara proudly held up her bed runner quilt. Toot toot toot Brenda it is fabulous. Crisp and clear colour choices all beautifully pieced, there's fabulous free-motion quilting too

it calls for double sided tooting, I hope you can see the quality quilting...

Josie is back from her travels with many projects needing to be finished.
She decided to appliqué her Tumbling Blocks using red thread with a chunky blanket stitch... it looks great!

We had two new, want-a-be quilters join us. They had been searching the wonderful internet  (as would I if it would stay connected!) and watching You Tube (don't you love YouTube?) and felt the urge to try the Split 9-Patch... so we did.

First we covered accurate and skilful cutting... and closing the blade!
They mastered the scant quarter inch seam... and understood the need for it, followed by stitching their 5 inch squares together then.... they chopped them up so we  could mix them up and Voila!

Of course... My very own patchwork and quilting shop!!
BT say we will be back to normal by Monday 15th.... fingers crossed eh...

Just thought I would update you...
We still have no phone line. Who knows what BT are up to...
We only have intermittent and extremely slow internet now... it lasts for approximately 30 seconds and drops off...
We use internet radios too... it's been quiet this weekend!

Stitching News... Not

Someone... some fool who doesn't realise how much we need things NOT to change... anyway, this silly someone, an employee of BT, cut through our telephone cables. It happened last Thursday and we are still, over a week now, without a phone line at home... not just my house, but this whole area... We do have intermittent internet but it is slower than slow so it takes way too long to upload beautiful pictures.
I do apologise if it spoils your daily read, he he he, I know this blog shares breakfast with many of you... It's out of my control...
All will resume when... all resumes!

Stitching News

I think I would be right in saying that today, in my very own little classroom everyone, without exception, was delighted to be 'back to normal' Most folks' holidays are done and dusted and routine stitching is back where it belongs... at the top of the "To Do" list!

Marilla popped in during the day to show us her superb Stack-n-Whack Kaleidoscope quilt. This lovely quilt is totally hand pieced and hand quilted... rather beautifully indeed. Marilla has another piece of fabric ready to Stack up and Whack up to make another Kaleidoscope... they are so exciting to make!

 Toot Toot Toot Marilla, it's finished and fabulous!

Not quite tooting time for Auntie June but she's very, very close. She finished her borders, trimmed the excess crusts from the quilt... made binding and stitched it in place ready for hand stitching at home... June moved directly to number two quilt... a blue-er version... June says she's going to make as many quilts as it takes to get it perfect! hmmmm does perfect really happen?

Just Jan continued working on some of the many segments of her Persian Rug quilt. This picture, taken from above as it was laid on the floor, shows it looks just like one... how very exciting! 

AnnBacan has been on holiday for ever....
Today she found her way back to my lovely quilt shop... she's making Split 4-Patch blocks... 16 done and just over 100 to go!

Christabelle added binding to this lovely, commissioned, baby play mat. She's been busy! I tried to take an arty-farty photograph so that you would be able to see her quilting, it's fabulous.
We might not see this quilt again... baby came early!

Monday Sheila has finished quilting all three thirds of her huge Lone Start quilt. She's going to join them together 'apartmently' but with a twist... the top joining strip will be made with diamond strips left over from the Lone Star blocks... what a fabulous idea... I can't wait to see how it looks...

September... Just In Time

What a busy time it's been around here... I've had a wonderful time playing in my Quilty Quarters, you should see the mess I've made in there though! but...  I can safely assure you that 'September' is done, complete, quilted with hanging loops and all. The last moment of August might be cutting it a little fine... but I can safely say that this little calendar quilt is actually only two years late! ha ha ha

The other months are almost there. Appliqué is stitched... rather beautifully I might add... the sandwiches are made too... actually, for these little quilts the pattern has you 'bag out' so... all that's left to do is quilt them and stitch up the little opening I had to leave to be able to turn them through... oh... and March... I still have to do a 'March'... there's ages yet though... now how many times have I said that? Answers on a Postcard!! he he he
Since today is September we are going to have a first Thursday of a month so  there's an SPQ meeting this week... They made a few very smart changes to the website... take a looky!!
It's my turn to take a table top shop this time so... if you're going and you need me to take anything in particular... just email or call me... happy to help!
