Just saying.... And Linking

72 Days
I don't want you to think I am nagging... you can probably feel the time slipping by all by your very own self but... that number is sooooo much smaller than last time I reminded you about sewing prevention season approaching.

My Lovely Patchwork And Quilting Shop has loads of Christmas Themed fabric and I've extended my very helpful sale!!! 10% discount off all of my festive fabrics... There are loads to choose from, you will see that when you pop in.

We have a few great workshops coming up for these dreadfully winter-y days

Foldy Fun for Christmas ... origami style fabric fun... an extremely relaxing workshop with our Jenny Barlston...lovely results... there's also an option to make a few extra foldy things to make a lovely little wreath should you prefer.
Here's a link or two to past workshops

Booty-ful Bear Workshop

It looks like the Booty-ful Bear workshop was another great success. Photographs are compliments of the lovely Jean Bean who was in charge of my most wonderful shop and classroom whilst I spent a day at the spa... well, not exactly a spa... actually it was the Staffordshire Patchworkers and Quilters Soup and Sew day... what a fun Saturday for everyone!!

Stitching News, With Tooting

Our first fabulous and finished fanfare is for New Sue's Mug quilt...
What a great wall feature... or for a kitchen door!!... I find my very own self needing one now... Toot toot toot Sue... one tick on the Christmas list!
This Tuesday group might be responsible for wearing out my tooting trumpet... they produce many beautiful projects... Princess Jackie is responsible for loads... she finished her fabulous "Fish And Ships" quilt now... don't you love the name!!! ha ha ha, toot toot toot Jackie
Jean Bean arrived super early to make a Stargazy Daizie sandwich. Beautiful colours that remind me of Neapolitan Ice-cream! There's a lovely story to this quilt, it involves life's twists and turns. All hands on deck as the others arrived.... Jean prepared the binding first then made a good start with her quilting
Lovely Lyn continued with her colour demon quilt. The decision has been made though... she doesn't like the colours at all, not together in one quilt that is. We are all expecting Lyn to change her mind, once the quilt top is finished. Don't worry about that pretty spot fabric... It's not for Lyn's quilt... those colour demons weren't that crue to Lynl!!... it's Krafty Karen's inner border fabric
.
New Sue wanted to make a Dresden Plate cushion, it will be tick number two for the Christmas list. The Dresden feathers have been cut from 4 inch strips so they are extra cute!... what a rubbish picture though... I did notice that!
Krafty Karen added a few extra rows of 7" squares to her second gifting quilt top, then inner border strips were stitched on. She says she is really enjoying the uncomplicated design and how fast the whole thing comes together... it's coming along a treat eh...
PM Pam has decided to continue making English Paper Pieced Hexagons as a long term, portable project... what a mouthful that was!! Each Hexagon flower will be blanket stitched onto this most beautiful Moda Grunge fabric with an idea to make enough for a double bed size quilt... I'm quit excited about this... I love, love, love yellow and red together!!!

Just Edna's Giant Finish

And a giant it is...
We could hardly lift Edna's latest Fabulous and Finished quilt... not just for it's size either... it weighs plenty...
What a stunning project with Wooow factor included... well... that's what everyone said as Edna unfolded it! he he
Just Edna's Log Cabin quilt...
What an achievement!!
It's not quite 120" square...
I know that because that's the measurement of my widest wadding, the one Edna used. It's Hobbs Heirloom 80% Cotton with 20% Polyester... £12.00 per metre from a giant roll, just in case you were wondering, ha! Edna quilted this on a domestic sewing machine too... see, we can do it!
Quilting with a diagonal design makes it easier to fit a quilt through your machine hole.. just saying.
Toot toot-e-tty-toot- toot Edna... a Fabulous Finish!

Moda's Little Black Dress 2, a very sophisticated collection... Edna made this as a wedding gift and she's got it finished with time to spare... 11 months, to be a little more precise!

Stitching News

Aunty June's Railfence quilt. She made this one with 2 1/2" strips so each block measures 6 " finished. It's a great design for refreshing your accuracy skills or for learning good basic skills.... we love the railfence design! Wonderful colours too...
you can't beat blue and white... a classic favourite!
This is one section of Merrily's latest memory quilts... She made it in three parts... long thin sandwiches are a very convenient shape for my tables... he he he
... they are easy to join 'apartment-ly' too
Di Butterfly finished her tote bag... basically it's a long-ish quilt folded up and stitched, it's quite chunky/bulky... it was photographed on the front cover of the August/September Fabrications magazine which included the pattern. The instructions were not too clear... but it is now fabulous and finished! toot toot toot Di
Louise had a quick refresher before starting her quilting.
How to pull threads to the top before stitching, how to ensure a great quilting stitch with good tension and how to tie off those ends, threading them through until the knot 'pops'... a very enjoyable sound!
Jenny Barlaston had challenged her very own self to make, and finish, a quilt in one week... Jenny's chosen design was a Suduko puzzle she had done earlier... she had an unmoveabubble gifting deadline! How lucky she is that I have great tables for sandwiching our quilts... I do believe that the deadline was met.
Lovely Lyn came to sandwich too... this is such a happy quilt, bright and cheery.
Aside from the background, all of the other fabrics were found in Lyn's very own stash... quilting time next... I wonder what design Lyn will choose?
Poppy's Mum came to show me her fabulous bed scarf and to get a little advice about her first time ever Free Motion quilting... she did a great job too... My first reaction as the quilt unfolded? I want one!! ha ha ha  It's so very lovely and the fabric choices are wonderful... I even know from where she purchased them!!

Count Down To Christmas...

I just checked here
Oh my goodness... Sewing prevention season is fast approaching...
81 days and ticking.
It's not a good weather forecast for Stoke-On-Trent this week... it's no good for gardening that's for sure and without any doubt!!
But for stitching??
IT'S PERFECT!!!
My Lovely Patchwork And Quilting Shop is in Stoke-On-Trent and....
I had a brain wave... How I could encourage you to get stitching while it rains and blows a gail??
I'll have a fabric sale!!!
10% should do it.... so
10% discount will be given on all of my festive fabrics... that's the Christmas Themed fabric... There's a lot to choose from, you will see that when you pop in.
That's surely a good thing for the upcoming sewing prevention season, isn't it?
OK...
let's get stitching... I will go down and open up the shop!!! see you later

Stitching News

Giggly Gillian decided to add a little binding to her pretty cushion.
It's a beautiful pattern and idea for those tiny little Hexagons, don't you think?
Lovely Lyn is battling with colour daemons! ha ha ha
This colour scheme is so far from Lyn's favourite that she doesn't even know why she is using it... I'm thinking that she must have been touched by an extraordinarily colourful spell. Lyn is quite gripped by the fabrics but has no clue why!
New Sue continued to make tiny little 9-Patches. The squares finished?... three quarters of an inch... Sue's making a table runner... unless we can persuade her to make a quilt! ha ha, believe me... there's absolutely NO chance.
Poppy's Nan had the urge to try a little patchwork. She purchased a new, super-duper sewing machine, a book and a pile of my gorgeous fabrics... two weeks later...
Poppy's Nan's first quilt... huge and AMAZING!!!!
At the end of the day I realised that there weren't too many photos for sharing again.... so I thought I would show you my sustificate... you know the one....
It says I am a Threaducation STAR!!!

Stitching News

Monday Sheila finished her quilt top... made from a delightful Moda Layer Cake it turned out beautifully... don't you think?
You can make quite a large quilt with a Layer Cake actually. Sheila's quilt will fit a single bed with plenty to hang over the edges, what a luxury!
Jean Bean is adding border Daisiez to her Stargazy Daisiez quilt, in between playing shop that is (pattern by Jan Mullens) Jean opted to use a lovely daisy fabric in between each whacky daisy block... looking lovely.

Christabelle is making festive gifting projects. have you made a start yet?
These little quilted squares will be turned into lovely little fabric trays... such a lovely idea. Christabelle calculated that, with clever cutting, she can make two from two Quilter's Quarters
PM Pam has two babies on the way... one of each colour so, she wants to make quilts for them... to play on of course, so they will be play mats... ha. These little blocks look easy, and they are... but, as Pam discovered... they need you to be very accurate if you want 'things' to line up... Pam has been challenged! he he he
Annbacan loves to do her cutting in my classroom. She 'Kits' a project or two so that she can sew in a smaller space at home. This pile is a kit for another Large Reversible Bag. Ann has made about, approximately, slightly guessing... 55 since her first workshop with Sue.
Lady Judith wanted to play and make a Liberated block... no pattern and not worrying about pointy-points or perfect junctions... sounds like a lot of fun eh! She was happy with the result which will be turned into a gifting surprise...
Annbacan had made these blocks towards a quilt for her sister, many years ago... unfortunately, and very sadly, her sister had a fatal accident before Ann finished the quilt. No surprise that Ann put the blocks away, not knowing what to do with them. Recently, Ann has mentioned the blocks several times so, after a little encouragement... we have her sashing, quilting and preparing to finish the quilt... the beautiful appliqué blocks will be joined after quilting... apartment-ly.
